An important lesson about guns

Merry Christmas!

And thank you for all you do to fight for Nevada’s future!

December 24, 2019

ITEM #1: We’re sending this week’s Morning Source a couple days early, in order to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas!

We hope you’ve been enjoying the Morning Source, and want to thank you for taking the time to read it. And of course, thank you for all you do to fight for conservative principles here in our Silver State! Your efforts are much appreciated — and needed now more than ever!

ITEM #2: So here is some further evidence that the swamp needs more draining. CNS News reports:

“Nine of the 20 richest counties in the United States — when measured by median household income — are suburbs of Washington, D.C., according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

“In fact, two counties in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C., are richer than the two California counties that constitute Silicon Valley.”

When so much wealth is concentrated in the immediate vicinity of our federal government, it’s a pretty strong sign that too many people are living large off of taxpayer money.

And yet the Democrats who are running for President today want American taxpayers to cough up even more money to pay for this gravy train!

ITEM #3: “California population growth slowest since 1900 as residents leave, immigration decelerates,” reads a Los Angeles Times headline from over the weekend, with the story going on to share that:

“The number of Californians increased to 39.96 million, with new data from the Department of Finance showing mostly downward trends.

“They are rooted in fewer births, coupled with increased deaths among an aging population. The Golden State, however, has also seen changes in international migration, along with more and more residents leaving the state.

“The estimates, which indicate that California’s population grew by 141,300 people between July 1, 2018, and July 1, 2019, nonetheless signal a 0.35% growth rate, ‘down from 0.57% for the prior 12 months — the two lowest recorded growth rates since 1900,’ department officials underscored.” (Emphasis added.)

Here’s the kicker:

“Notably, said Eddie Hunsinger, a demographer with the Department of Finance, even though the net international migration added to the state’s population, there was substantial negative domestic net migration, which resulted in a loss of 39,500 residents. This, said the department, marks ‘the first time since the 2010 census that California has had more people leaving the state than moving in from abroad or other states.’

It turns out when you implement policies that raise taxes astronomically, saddle job creators with endless regulations, lead to crises in housing shortages and homelessness, undermine public safety, fail to provide quality education, and produce widespread drug abuse, people won’t want to live in your state.

Are you paying attention, Nevada Democrats?

ITEM #4: A frequent complaint among Democrats is about the nefarious influence of money — especially so-called “dark money” — on our political system. Of course, the fact that Democrats so often benefit from dark money suggests that they may be just a tad insincere in their supposed concerns.

Well, the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s editors are on to them, and have recently published a great op-ed, which you can read here, exposing Democrats for their hypocrisy on this issue.

But the op-ed also raises another crucial point that often gets overlooked — that the bigger government becomes, the more susceptible the system will be to the abuses Democrats claim to lament. The editors write:

“What people who complain about money in politics typically ignore is the obvious nexus between an aggressive administrative state and the number of people seeking to influence the process. If government couldn’t harm or help them, corporations, Big Labor and other special interests might be more likely to keep their money to themselves.

“The actual solution is quite simple: If you want to reduce money’s role in the political process, reduce the size and scope of government. No hypocrisy necessary.”

Exactly.

ITEM #5: Last week, federal Judge Jed Rakoff rejected a Trump administration request to toss out a lawsuit seeking to block ICE from making arrests in New York courthouses.

Judge Rakoff is a “Clinton judge.”  Big surprise.

ITEM #6: The Never-Trump Gang rides again.

When a moderate Republican wins a contested primary against a conservative challenger, the GOP establishment wing tells conservatives they must fall in line and back the moderate because the Democrat alternative is so much worse.

But when the shoe is on the other foot, the establishment Republicans often sleep with the enemy. Remember “Republicans for Reid” in the Nevada 2010 U.S. Senate race?

Well, here we go again.

Despite the wildly successful first three years of President Donald Trump’s administration — which has included cutting taxes, rolling back regulations, inking “America First” trade deals, defeating ISIS, supporting the pro-life movement and defending Second Amendment rights — a group of establishment Republicans have set up a PAC (The Lincoln Project) to defeat Trump and Trump-supporting Republicans in 2020.

They would rather see a President Biden, Sanders or Warren than a re-elected President Trump. They’d rather see House Speaker Pelosi than Kevin McCarthy. And Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer than Mitch McConnell.

The founding members include Steve Schmidt (Arnold Schwarzenegger and John McCain), John Weaver (John McCain, John Kasich and the Democrat Congressional Campaign Committee), Rick Wilson (Evan McMullin) and, unbelievably, George Conway, husband of senior Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway.

There are only two choices: Trump, or the California-zation of America.
